To ensure that all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Oregonians experience equality by building a broad and inclusive, politically powerful movement, shifting public opinion and achieving policy victories.
Bottom Line for Portland
During the past year, BREF trained more than 500 people in transgender justice and LGBTQ equality, including officials from schools, prisons and state agencies; held trans health forums attended by more than 125 transgender community members; and staged a statewide summit, which drew more than 150 people from 17 Oregon counties.
“My family and I always supported Basic Rights Education Fund because we believed in LGBTQ equality. Now that we have a transgender daughter, BREF supports us. BREF is paving the way for her to have a future without discrimination.” —Joy Stoelting, mother of Ella, an 8-year-old transgender girl
Donors of $50 or more to BREF will receive a Pick 6 Flight at Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider Co.
