Bicycle Transportation Alliance

Mission

To advocate for healthy, thriving communities where it is safe and easy for people to bike, walk and ride public transit.

Bottom Line for Portland

Last year, 11,741 people rode in BTA’s Bike More Challenge, and 1,959 identified as new riders. BTA also engaged kids at 159 schools in the Walk+Bike Challenge, its Women Bike program engaged more than 800 women, and BTA taught more than 5,000 kids in its bike and pedestrian safety classes.

“I really want to bike and walk to school by myself, but I can’t because the streets are unsafe. I think we should have safe routes to school for every kid in Oregon.”—Trey Niggeman, 8-year-old student at Linwood Elementary
