To provide and encourage an engaged, thoughtful feminist response to mainstream media and popular culture through Bitch magazine, bitchmedia.org, weekly podcasts, educational programs, speaking engagements and a community lending library.
Bottom Line for Portland
This year, 60,000 Portlanders have visited bitchmedia.org to engage with its feminist response to pop culture. Through Bitch on Campus programs, Bitch Media works with hundreds of high school and college students in the Portland area, conducting workshops on race, gender and media, giving Portland students the tools they need to make sense of the media landscape that surrounds them.
“It takes nerve to remind people that our world is colored by gender and gender bias, by inequality and violence. To read Bitch is to remember that we don’t always choose our causes; some of them find us.” —Cheryl Strayed
