CASA for Children of Multnomah, Washington, and Columbia Counties

To help keep children safe when they have been abused or neglected and are under the protection of the court. Our mission is to recruit, train, and support CASA volunteers to advocate for children in foster care as they navigate a complex legal system. Our goal is to ensure that the children we serve are placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.

Bottom Line for Portland

In 2016, nearly 490 volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) will advocate for better outcomes on behalf of a record 1,100 children in foster care. On average, children with CASAs spend less time in foster care and experience fewer foster placements. The value of these volunteer hours is nearly $2.4 million.

“To give a child a CASA volunteer is to give them a voice. To give them a voice is to give them hope, and to give them hope is to give them the world. I believe that with all my heart.” —pamela, former foster youth
