The Circus Project

To utilize the unique power of circus arts to transcend social barriers and inspire personal transformation while contributing to the development of circus as an art form. The Circus Project serves a diverse community through a public academy, professional performances and a spectrum of social circus programs.

Bottom Line for Portland

In 2015, the Circus Project served 288 youth through social circus programs, 452 students through its academy, and 3,250 audience members through professional performances. One hundred percent of homeless youth from its founding program transitioned off the streets and remain housed eight years later.

“The Circus Project is the kind of innovation organization that puts Oregon on the map as a destination for arts and culture. The group’s unique approach in using art as a transformation tool for homeless and at-risk youth is remarkable work that must be recognized.” —Gov. Kate Brown
