Through a unique model of legal aid for the environment, Crag provides free and low-cost legal services to clients working on the ground to protect our wild places, clean water, communities and climate.
Bottom Line for Portland
This year, Crag provided over 8,000 hours of free and low-cost legal services ($3 million value) to 40 conservation organizations, community groups and tribes. Crag protected old-growth forests and watersheds, helped local residents stand up for their communities, and stopped fossil fuel projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.
“Crag is powered by skilled advocates who understand that environmental legal aid and community building go hand in hand; that environmental justice is the backbone of community health; that forests and rivers sustain not only precious wildlife, but also the love of the wild that fills our human hearts.” —Dawn Smallman, festival director, Portland EcoFilm Festival
