To build ambitious programs that promote artists and engage communities. Since 2000, Disjecta has presented a dynamic mix of visual and performing arts to Portland and beyond while ensuring all its art exhibits are free and open to the public.
Bottom Line for Portland
Disjecta has built two major programs that provide critical opportunities for curators, artists and audiences: the region’s first curator-in-residence program, which brings new contemporary art voices to Portland every year; and the Portland
Biennial, which celebrates and showcases contemporary work via exhibitions, lectures and events. Portland2016 included 34 artists at 25 venues in 13 communities—the largest and most comprehensive survey of Oregon art ever.
“Disjecta supports one of our most culturally diverse neighborhoods in North Portland, cultivates new talent and emerging curators, and builds important partnerships with our schools and nonprofits. I’m proud that Disjecta calls Portland home, and grateful for 15 years of creative excellence.” —Commissioner Nick Fish, city of Portland
