Farmers Market Fund makes healthy, locally grown food accessible to underserved Oregonians by doubling SNAP benefits at more than 20 metro-area farmers markets. We help families bring home more fruits and vegetables, give small farmers an economic boost, and keep more food dollars in our local economy.
Bottom Line for Portland
In 2020, FMF is prepared to distribute more than $150,000 in Double Up Food Bucks incentives directly to 15,600 SNAP shoppers at 23 farmers markets in the tricounty area. We know this program changes lives! Last year, 86% of DUFB participants reported purchasing more fresh produce as a result of the match, 79% reported the amount of food in their house increased, and 81% felt an improvement in their overall health.
“Thank you for the Double Up Food Bucks! We eat more fruits and veggies and go to the farmers market more thanks to the bucks! We lost our jobs in COVID and it’s been a tough road. How nice to have some relief, healthy food, and support local farms.”
