Girls Build inspires curiosity and confidence in girls through the world of building. This is accomplished through summer camps and after-school programming. Girls Build offers full scholarships to all campers in foster care and full or partial scholarships to 50% of the remaining participants.
Bottom Line for Portland
Girls Build was able to offer COVID-safe in-person and virtual camps in 2020, and has now partnered with Wild Diversity to offer in-person, outdoor educational support classes to K-12 public school students who identify as Black, Indigenous, other people of color, or low-income as a response to virtual learning. It is critical at this time that our most vulnerable students have a chance to succeed this year and continue their education through the pandemic.
“Thank you so much. This has been the best camp experience my daughter has ever had. All of the teachers were excellent, engaged, caring and competent. My daughter came home each day brimming over with excitement about all of the tools she learned how to use, the new skills, and the projects. One very special element I noticed was the encouragement for collaboration, cooperation and helping each other.” —Parent of an 8-year-old camper
