In the past year, Girls Inc. served more than 1,500 girls. Its programming targets a diverse, underserved population: 100 percent of participants fall at or below the national poverty line, 67 percent identify as racial or ethnic minorities, most come from single-parent households, and all are at risk for substance abuse, violence and poverty.
