Literary Arts

Our mission is to engage readers, support writers, and inspire the next generation with great literature. We build a more inclusive and empathetic community by providing the space and a platform for diverse voices to be shared and heard.

Bottom Line for Portland

Each year, Literary Arts provides the space for 20,000 Portlanders to share their stories and engage in meaningful conversations about some of today’s most important ideas. From an event with acclaimed journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates to a local reading with Incite: Queer Writers Read, our programming highlights all voices.

Your donation of $200 or more gets you access to our Margaret Atwood event at the virtual Portland Book Festival and a free copy of Atwood’s new poetry collection, Dearly. There is a limited supply of this incentive.
Donate to Literary Arts and enjoy incentives like seats in a Delve seminar, access to exclusive events, or a Literary Arts season pass for all of our 2020/2021 events! Click here to see the full list of donor incentives!

“By supporting readers, writers, and books, Literary Arts is doing the difficult and crucial work of building engaged communities, and for me, this is nothing short of protecting a democratic society that recognizes that you and I are deeply united by our vision of a world that is better, truer, and freer.” —Min Jin Lee, 2019/20 Portland Arts & Lectures Speaker
