NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon Foundation supports and protects, as a fundamental right and value, a person’s freedom to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices—including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion—through education, training, organizing and research. We champion public policies that address disparities in reproductive health care and promote health equity for all people.
Bottom Line for Portland
A right with no access is not a right. We work to increase access to care for all and ensure that reproductive health care policies are fully implemented, researched and evaluated to have the greatest impact for those most in need of services.
“As a leader in East Portland and lifelong advocate for reproductive justice, it’s inspiring to be a part of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon’s transformational change. We’ve evolved past a single-issue organization to one that centers on the experiences of those most impacted by barriers to reproductive health care—including those hardest hit by COVID-19 and racial injustice. Our work at NARAL must go beyond legality and rights—everyone must also have access to essential reproductive health services. That’s why we support comprehensive sexual health education for all, driver's licenses for all, and preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds in Multnomah County, because it’s also critical that parents have the support they need to raise healthy families.” Multnomah County Commissioner Jessica Vega Pederson, NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon board vice president
