To bring neighbors together to prevent hunger and homelessness, and to educate both young and old. Neighborhood House serves the community through programs aimed at preparing children for success in school, helping families gain stability and supporting seniors to continue living independently.
Bottom Line for Portland
Last year, Neighborhood House served more than 18,000 people, including 628 children served in three early-childhood education programs. Ninety percent of the children in its Head Start pre-kindergarten program met or exceeded school-readiness goals in five out of six learning categories (including social-emotional, physical, language, cognitive and literacy).
