To work in partnership with the community to prevent youth homelessness and provide youth at-risk of or experiencing homelessness with the resources and skills needed to lead healthy, productive lives.
Bottom Line for Portland
Last year, a record number 1,518 youth received services from New Avenues: 27,273 meals were served in its Drop-In Day Services Center; youth received 86 transitional and permanent housing placements; 300 youth in foster care received life skills, education, mental health and other supports; and youth received 277 job and internship placements through the agency’s job-training program and social purpose enterprises.
“Without New Avenues, I’m not sure where I’d be today. I’m no longer scared and I’m not alone. I have a job and I’m applying for college. They believe in my potential—they believe in me—and that has made all the difference.” —Jon, New Avenues client
