Bottom Line for Portland
In 2015, Operation Nightwatch’s hospitality centers provided 914 hours of evening outreach for homeless people seeking haven, food, blankets, clothing and health services. Its annual census was 21,110 “guests”—an average of 67 to 91 people a night—who would ordinarily be wandering the streets.
“You learn who your friends are when you’re on the streets. [Nightwatch] stood by me when no one else did. I owe you everything.” —Patrick, Nightwatch guest
