Peace In Schools

To bring mindfulness education to young people, fostering compassion, resilience and self-awareness when teens struggle with feelings of isolation, depression and anxiety.

Bottom Line for Portland

In 2014, Peace in Schools launched the first for-credit, public high school mindfulness course in the nation. Its program is offered in eight high schools in partnership with Portland Public Schools. This year, it will serve more than 1,600 teens. Ninety-seven percent of its students report significant positive changes in their emotional and mental health.

"The difference I see in my students from the beginning of class to the end of class is amazing. We need more of this in our schools—every student could benefit!" —Kathyrn Wolff, counselor, Wilson High School
