Our mission is to be on the front lines, improving the health and well-being of our homeless neighbors.
Bottom Line for Portland
Your support brings health, hope and dignity to people who are suffering in plain sight, but have been left out of the health care system. Our clinic is in the streets, and in 2020 we expect to care for 2,000 individuals. We meet people where they live, providing “house calls” to tents, camps, forests, under bridges, and in shelters. We provide basic medical care, distribute survival supplies, and facilitate connections to social services. Portland Street Medicine is a strong and reliable bridge to long-term supports and well-being for our homeless neighbors.
“They’re a vital part of a continuum of care. The essence of providing health care well is meeting people where they are, and they’re literally doing that. They’re doing the opposite of saying, ‘We set up a system that works for us, and you need to fit into it.’” —Dr. Rachel Solotaroff of Central City Concern
