Founded on the principles of inclusion and artistic excellence, Portland Playhouse’s mission is to celebrate the complexity of our shared human experience. Since 2008, we’ve been committed to amplifying voices underrepresented on American stages and building an audience, staff and board that reflects our community’s diversity. We envision a world awakened by the wonder of theater.
Bottom Line for Portland
Portland Playhouse, a King neighborhood community arts center, serves more than a dozen schools and an audience of over 10,000 each year. In the wake of COVID-19 and in support of the movement for Black lives, the Playhouse is offering a vibrant lineup of multimedia performances, intimate connections, virtual education programs, and community-supporting events. Together, we’re creating connection in a time of isolation and harnessing the power of storytelling to change hearts and minds.
Double your donation! The first $15,000 we raise will be matched, dollar for dollar, by our friends at the Raymond Family Foundation.

“It’s groundbreaking what we’ve created here in the King community. I’ve witnessed the transformation of this space, and it means so much to me to have all my friends and family see what this theater has come to be. I’m proud to be part of the Playhouse family.” —Marilyn Keller, actor and vocalist, played Mother Shaw the recent production of Crowns
