The Rose City Rollers’ mission is to serve women, girls and gender-expansive individuals who want to play the team sport of roller derby, connect with an inclusive community, and realize their power both on skates and off.
Bottom Line for Portland
Rose City Rollers, celebrating its 15th year, was created with the vision to build and grow community through roller derby. Now, we are proudly the largest roller derby league in the world. We serve over 1,000 skaters and volunteers ranging in age from 7 to 60 years old. Our league consists of four adult home teams, two travel teams, an adult recreational and training program, and a robust juniors program.
“While derby is a thrilling sport to watch and play, it’s the benefit to members and the community that have long-term impact. Skaters and volunteers grow in confidence, leadership and teamwork through participation in RCR and will then take these skills out into the world. By empowering our members physically and mentally, while also instilling a philanthropic spirit, we are growing a generation of women who own their power and want to use it for good.” —Kim Stegeman, aka Rocket Mean, executive director of RCR
