Sam Day Foundation

The Sam Day Foundation strives to advance research for pediatric cancers, so more kids with cancer can survive and live well.

Bottom Line for Portland

Clinical trials give families hope when standard treatment fails. But only the most socially supported and financially equipped families can relocate to other hospitals around the country to access those trials. When we create opportunities for clinical research here in Portland, local kids can have easy access to hopeful options, and progress toward cures will accelerate.

Sam Day Foundation has incentives for each of the following Big Give Days:
  • 11/12 – Donations $10 or more will be entered to win an Oregon Pinot Noir basket
  • 11/24 – Donations of $50 or more will be entered to win a Stages Solo Indoor Bicycle
  • 12/8 – All donations will be matched up to $5,000 by Kelley and Bernie Doering
  • 12/15 – All donations will be matched up to $5,000 by Oregon Fruit Products
  • 12/29 – All donations of $10 or more will be entered to win a Portland Gear package

“Research for more curative pediatric cancer treatment is truly critical and long overdue. Current treatments are often adult-based solutions that pediatric doctors try to apply to children, resulting in major lifelong complications that are often worse than the cancer it cured. My daughter survived cancer, but now she faces a life of significant physical disabilities due directly to her treatment. She questions the value of surviving cancer.” —Jerris Marr, parent
