White Bird

Now celebrating 20 years, White Bird is committed to bringing the best Portland-based, regional, national and international dance companies to Portland. White Bird strongly believes in making dance exciting, educational and accessible to everyone, young and old and of all social backgrounds.

Bottom Line for Portland

White Bird's major goal is to expand and diversify its audience and donors. In the coming 2017-18 season, White Bird will present six dance companies of color and hopes to reach close to 1,000 new individuals from the Portland region’s diverse communities.

Year after year, White Bird’s Education Outreach Project is an overwhelmingly positive, successful learning experience for students and teachers. The equity of the program really shines here as it starts conversations about multiple perspectives in identity, race, ethnicity and culture.” —Kristen Brayson, Portland Public Schools arts TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment)
