Fear and misunderstanding continue to cause harm in our own region and across the globe. WorldOregon is known for breaking down cultural barriers and broadening perspectives. We direct our (currently virtual) internationally oriented programs to K-12 children in our local schools, international visitors, and you with our public programs.
Bottom Line for Portland
Last year, WorldOregon provided 14,000 K-12 students with multicultural education materials, welcomed 500-plus international visitors on professional exchanges, and interacted with over 5,000 globally minded Oregonians at public discussions. At the moment, all these programs are occurring virtually. Your support makes a world of difference for our programs and Oregon’s connection to a vibrant, global future.
WorldOregon will give everyone who gives over $100 a free copy of Samantha Power’s book The Education of an Idealist. There will also be a drawing and the lucky winner will get a free series subscription to the 2021 virtual International Speaker Series!
"It's interesting that, when I think of leaders, my head goes straight to older international leaders. But there are lots of youth demanding change. We need to learn about action NOW and acknowledge the power of young people's actions." – YLA participant. The Young Leaders in Action program (YLA) engages a diverse group of students from high schools across the Portland metro area in cultivating leadership skills to take action on global issues.
