At Meals on Wheels People, we are gearing up for our annual fundraiser, Donate Dinner. This week-long event partners us with local grocery stores, allowing shoppers to “donate dinner” to homebound seniors by contributing to Meals on Wheels People at the register.

Volunteers are truly the heart of this fundraiser, and we’re currently recruiting individuals to help greet shoppers and remind them to donate at checkout. It’s a simple yet impactful way for folks to get involved during the holidays, requiring only a two-hour time commitment!

We are looking for volunteers from 11/20-11/27, and have over 20 participating locations. As Store Greeters, you will welcome shoppers at the grocery store entrance, provide them with postcards detailing our campaign, and encourage folks to consider donating to Meals on Wheels People at the register. A friendly greeting like, “Hello! ___ store is partnering with Meals on Wheels People this week, giving you the option to donate to Meals on Wheels People at checkout—be sure to ask about it at the register” works great!

Shifts are only two hours long and are split into the following times:

• 11-1PM
• 1-3PM
• 3-5PM
• 5-7PM

This is a great opportunity for volunteer for MOWP alone, or in a group! Each time slot can accommodate 2 volunteers per store, meaning that 1 store can accommodate 8 people per day.
