Creating Inclusive Housing Solutions For People with Disabilities
We believe housing is a basic human right for all people. Stable housing supports enhanced health, well-being, and community connectedness. Yet, for thousands of people experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), housing security is an escalating crisis, leaving individuals with I/DD and their families with few housing options.
That’s where ALSO comes in. As an Oregon-based non-profit organization that provides 360-degree services to people with I/DD, we understand that one of the most critical components of supporting people is providing affordable, accessible, and inclusive housing, and we are committed to being part of the solution.

Financial Assistance for rising housing costs.
Many of the individuals we support rely primarily on social security as their income, which falls short of covering livable expenses, often forcing them into housing they wouldn't choose. ALSO ensures no one loses housing due to affordability by bridging the financial gap.
Opening a third children’s residential home in November of 2023.
ALSO’s Children’s Services are designed and implemented with the whole child in mind. Your gift will help provide a healthy, safe, creative, active, and inviting home environment where children live full lives.

Development of 39 units of affordable housing.
ALSO has partnered with two mission-driven housing developers for a 39-unit affordable complex in Gresham, with dedicated units for individuals with disabilities. A transformative opportunity for inclusive, accessible, and affordable housing for people with disabilities, fostering a community with secure and supportive housing options.
Assistive and adaptive technology.
Assistive and adaptive technology empowers people to stay connected and enhance their independence. This year ALSO launched the Assistive Technology Lending Library, ensuring equitable access for all those we support. The library allows individuals to test and borrow assistive technology offering a glimpse into what's possible. However, this is just the beginning, and we invite you to help us expand our Assistive Technology program and broaden the range of available technologies.
