Baby Blues Connection

Mission

Our Mission…
The Mission of Baby Blues Connection is to provide mental health support and build community with parents and birthing people coping with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders through connection, information and resources.

Our Vision….
BBC envisions a world where all parents and birthing people can access a comprehensive, peer support model and receive mental health support through the early years of parenting.

Our Core Values…
Support, Connection, Equity, and Wellbeing

Our Goals….
-We will embrace diversity and strive to create an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone, where all parents feel heard, validated, and supported
-We will maintain a provider list and connect parents to resources that are gender inclusive, culturally specific, and specialize in perinatal mental health
-We will fight to dismantle systemic racism and reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates through advocacy and education
-We will value our own mental health while consistently remaining available to everyone who reaches out for support

Bottom Line for Portland

Baby Blues Connection is the only organization of its kind in the metro area. We provide a vital link between diagnosis and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders through our free peer-to-peer support and resources. We work tirelessly to normalize the struggles of those coping with conditions that arise out of welcoming a child into their lives. Our program operates on a tiny budget and is funded by contributions from people whose lives have been touched by postpartum depression and anxiety.

Quote

“As a pediatrician, I value so much the support that BBC gives to parents and families in our community! I refer to this organization often and see it as a valuable resource that provides a much needed service.” - Laura M.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Postpartum depression and perinatal mood disorders can affect anyone and rates of occurrence increase for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folks. And so Baby Blues Connection operates under a strict pledge to incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion strategies into our organization. Our strategies are both public facing and focused on the internal work of questioning our own unconscious biases, both individually and as an organization. We continuously strive toward equity in all aspects of our work, in everything from our day-to-day operations to the titles we choose to explore in our monthly book group.
