Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area

BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

Boys and Girls Clubs of Portland Metro’s mission is to empower all young people to discover their full potential, especially those who need us most.

Bottom Line for Portland

Since 1946, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metro have been at the forefront of providing a safe and nurturing space where youth ages 6 to 18 can spend time out of school.

Our club spaces function as safe, positive, and transformative environments during out-of-school time hours that effectively grow and develop youth as next-generation leaders and innovators. We work to inspire youth and teens to achieve success in our four core competencies: Financial Empowerment, STEAM, Sport & Play, Career Exploration.

Through these strategic and intentional programs, we aspire to address and help close the Opportunity Gap, Wealth Gap, and Play Gap that the youth in our communities we serve experience.

Quote

“Boys & Girls Clubs became my safe space. It was a place where I could break out of my shell and become someone I was proud of. If you had told me back when I first joined that I would be here today, sharing my story about how BGC, Miss Pearl, and Miss Gigi shaped me into who I am now, I wouldn't have believed you. But here I am.”

--Mari Angel, BGC Portland 2025 Youth of the Year
