BRAVO Youth Orchestras
Mission
BRAVO serves diverse populations of students by providing mentorship opportunities and multiple pathways to engage in the arts. Through its programs, BRAVO promotes social justice, provides social/emotional support and boosts academic achievement while supporting the development of creative, confident, community-minded artists.
Bottom Line for Portland
Donating to BRAVO not only brings more music into the world, but also inspires creativity and teaches key learning and life skills to hundreds of youngsters who might not otherwise ever experience the transformative power of music education. BRAVO offers the “AHA” moment, which many of us have experienced ourselves, that can change young lives.
Quote
“Teach children the beauty of music, and music will teach them the beauty of life” --Jose Antonio Abreu, founder of El Sistema in Venezuela
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Our ongoing work includes a Racial Equity Training Professional Development series for all staff and curricular components that center student voice and choice. Equity is integrated into the mission and core values of the organization, removing typical barriers to participation so that traditionally marginalized children and families can access music education right in their communities.
