Bridging Voices is a youth chorus for LGBTQ+ and allied youth, ages 13-21. We strive to be a safe, accessible place for youth to experience empowerment and unity through music. Bridging Voices is Portland’s first LGBTQ+ and Allied Youth Chorus and is one of the largest choruses of its kind in the nation.
“Bridging Voices gives people a place to be themselves and they can have people use their correct pronouns and have people accept them even when nobody else does.” - Bridging Voices Singer
“I have seen some kids come in through the door with dark, stormy clouds over their heads and in a matter of months, one day a week, transform into more confident young adults who are comfortable sharing what’s on their minds and for once, being themselves.” – Bridging Voices Parent
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do such as creating a safe space for all LGBTQ+ and allied youth and believe that to achieve our mission, our community must be accessible to all LGBTQ+ youth. Thus, we have never and will never exclude youth based on financial means. There is no cost to be a member of Bridging Voices. Concerts and performances are one way we advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Portland metro area. Performances give our community the opportunity to see a group of LGBTQ+ youth making beautiful music together, allowing us to both increase visibility and truly celebrate our LGBTQ+ youth through the messages of their performances. Bridging Voices has made a commitment to ensure music created by BIPOC artists are featured in all performances. Learn more at: https://bridgingvoices.org/about
