Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare
Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare’s mission is to deliver whole health care – integrated mental health and addiction services, primary care, and housing – to promote hope and support the well-being of the communities we serve.
Bottom Line for Portland
We believe that caring for the whole person is caring for the whole community. Broad community-support of Cascadia’s whole healthcare model has meant lower healthcare costs, improved quality of care and significant changes in health outcomes for community members. In just two years, we’ve successfully reduced emergency room visits by 18% and inpatient hospital visits by 23%. Together, we are significantly changing the quality of care for individuals, as well as reducing financial strain on the healthcare system. Donating to Cascadia’s whole healthcare mission means: •Supporting more than 18,000 community members with integrated health care services and affordable housing solutions, specifically individuals facing chronic mental health challenges and other health disparities. •Ensuring comprehensive primary care services remain available to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. •Providing flexible client assistance funds to mitigate barriers to housing and healthcare including eviction prevention funds, one-time rental assistance, utility costs, motel and meal vouchers, and low cost cell phones. •Joining a movement and ending the stigma of mental illness. Given the long-term mental health impacts that will extend well beyond this pandemic, donations to Cascadia allow us to meet the increased demand for services while evolving the way we support community members.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At Cascadia, we believe racism is a public health crisis. With that in mind, we’ve deepened our organizational commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and are actively engaged in an internal planning process to formalize our Equity Plan. We remain committed to improving our policies and practices and to promoting equitable services. Here are some ways our equity and inclusion work shows up: •We provide diabetes education and health and wellness interventions for disparately impacted populations, specifically communities of color. •We offer affordable housing programs and supports for those most impacted by severe and persistent mental illness, as well as for those living with AIDS. •We provide outreach and support at cultural events, specifically for refugees and immigrants. •Employees from across the organization engage regularly in solution focused equity and diversity work groups. •We provide support and infrastructure for COVID testing and vaccination efforts for communities of color. Equity and inclusion is at the intersection of everything we do and the services we provide. We stand committed to uplifting communities of color and working toward systemic change by calling upon each employee and partnering organization to reflect on how racism shows up in the work, and within our systems.
