Mission

The mission of Children’s Center is to work with the community to end child abuse and neglect through assessment, treatment, and prevention; we are working to build a world where every child feels safe, valued, and heard.

Bottom Line for Portland

Children who’ve experienced abuse or neglect often face lifelong challenges, everything from risky behavior and chronic illness to mental health struggles, academic setbacks, and even early mortality. The effects ripple outward, diminishing the well-being of our entire community.

When you support the Children’s Center, you do more than donate, you change these outcomes. You give children and their protective families the tools to heal, regain stability, and envision a healthy, hopeful future. Your support builds stronger, healthier communities.

Last year alone, we provided 573 trauma assessments, delivered 1,279 therapy sessions, and trained more than 5,000 adults to recognize and prevent abuse. Every number represents a story of courage, healing, and hope, and a community standing together to protect its children. We know that abuse is preventable and healing is possible.

“The staff’s genuine care made all the difference. My children’s voices were heard, their needs validated, and in a frightening time, we found light and hope.” ~A parent speaking of their experience with Children's Center.
