Dandelion House Catholic Worker
Mission
Dandelion House is an intentional community that welcomes those in need of transitional housing to live in the spare bedrooms of our home, in a warm, family-scale environment where we can give personal attention to the unique needs and circumstances of each of our guests.
Bottom Line for Portland
We house two, three, or four people at a time in the spare bedrooms of our home in Clackamas County, as well as through a growing network of homes in the Portland area. Because we live with our guests and share daily life with them, we truly get to know one another and are better able to address each person’s unique needs and circumstances. We also offer free, nutritious meals to people living on the streets, often with vegetables from our own garden.
Quote
"Dandelion House is my home. I can come here and know that I am safe. You showed me what love is, and what home is.”
~guest, age 18.
“What I like about Dandelion House is the community. In my household we didn’t eat dinner together or talk about life, so doing that here has opened up my horizons for how I want to lead my family when I choose to have one."
~guest, age 29
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Dandelion House empowers those from historically marginalized communities in our work. This includes BIPOC, immigrants, and unaccompanied minors.
