Friends of Trees
Friends of Trees inspires people to improve the world around them through a simple solution: Planting trees. Together.
Bottom Line for Portland
Donations plant trees + grow community. In a typical season 50,000 trees and native shrubs are planted in neighborhoods and natural areas by Friends of Trees volunteers at more than 100 different volunteer events across the region. More than 870,000 trees & native shrubs have been planted since 1989!
"I love the way strangers come together and leave as friends and neighbors after planting trees together. I also love that now I get to see the trees I planted grow over the years. This is all magic." – Steph, Friends of Trees volunteer
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Friends of Trees recognizes that not everyone has equal access to the benefits of trees, and our climate justice work includes partnering with organizations to help historically underserved communities access all that trees have to offer—cooler & healthier neighborhoods, green jobs, and so much more. We prioritize planting trees in low-canopy, underserved neighborhoods, and our youth and adult education programming supports skill-building and workforce development. We strive to be a welcoming and safe place for everyone, regardless of age, ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, political views or economic status. Without our volunteers, we are nothing. But together we do amazing things.
