Girls Build

BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

Girls Build inspires curiosity and confidence in girls through the world of building.

Bottom Line for Portland

In 2024, Girls Build taught over 270 eight- to fifteen-year-old Portland girls  how to swing hammers, drive screws, make cuts with jigsaws and chop saws and table saws, measure with confidence, think with confidence, build with confidence and simply exist in this world with confidence. Our classes and camps open doors to living wage careers in the building trades, as well as teaching basic building skills to manage life.

Quote

“Our kiddo had a blast, and we were floored by the amazing collection of items she made - a folding stool, skateboard (!!), birdhouse, spoon jewelry, and more. They taught participants to work with wood, metal, concrete, and leather - instructors were great, food was amazing. Can't wait for next year."

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Girls Build works closely with the foster care system to provide free programming year-round to girls currently or previously involved in the foster care system.
