Human Access Project
Transforming Portland's Relationship with the Willamette River.
Bottom Line for Portland
Human Access Project (HAP) creates people places on the Willamette River.
HAP drove the opening of Poet's Beach and Audrey McCall Beach. HAP added two ladders to the Fire House Dock. After six years of advocacy HAP negotiated the conversion of the Kevin Duckworth Dock from a motorized dock to a non motorized swimming Dock and privately fund-raised to add eight ladders, slow no wake buoys and bike racks.
HAP's number one priority is mitigating the Harmful Algae Bloom at Ross Island. It is solvable problem and we are making progress.
HAP also runs the River Hugger Swim Team who swim across the Willamette mornings in the summertime, 2022 will be the Hugger's 10 year anniversary.
HAP has removed over 250 tons of concrete and rubble from our city's beaches.
“People protect what they love.”
