Mission

To transform and enrich the lives of performers and audiences through comedy. We work to eliminate the historic barriers that have kept folx from seeing and doing comedy, addressing the ongoing needs of our community and its diverse perspectives through dynamic shows, and community outreach events—creating equity across our organization and beyond while providing opportunities for performance, education, and laughter.

We all need a laugh. At Kickstand, we believe comedy builds community. We're not just about entertaining the people of Portland, we're about connecting them. It's why we host accessible, affordable shows from local performers all year round, including Comedy in the Park, Portland's largest free comedy show.

Kickstand is also home to a robust comedy training center. We teach three levels of free improv classes for BIPOC students, offer a scholarship program to minimize financial barriers, and affordable education for anyone looking to give comedy a try.

We’re a non-profit, all-inclusive space for Portland’s comedy scene to perform, collaborate, and learn. Expect funny people, unique voices, weird sh*t, and affordable classes and shows.
