Kinship House
Mission
Kinship House provides therapy and advocacy for children in Oregon who are experiencing foster care and adoption. We support them as they work through trauma, connect with safe adults, and build stable futures.
Bottom Line for Portland
We envision a future where each child in foster care is equipped with not only the mental health treatment they need, but a supportive, stable family with whom they can grow into adulthood. Our 14-person team of professional child & family therapists provide play and whole-family therapy services so children can heal from traumatic experiences and build stability, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status.
In 2023:
- 97% of children maintained placements in safe, stable homes.
- 98% of children did not need a higher level of care while accessing services
- 82% of children improved or maintained progress toward their mental health diagnosis
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Like the population in foster care, Kinship House’s staff is diverse and places great value on accessibility and inclusion.
- - 33% of staff have personal experience with the foster care system, ,33% identify as LGBTQIA+ and 9% are bilingual
- - 14% of clinical staff identify as BIPOC
- - Therapists receive regular trainings around cultural responsiveness, especially in the form of cross-racial adoptions
- - Clients are able to access services regardless of ability to pay: 98% are enrolled in Medicaid Health Programs
