YouthLine (Lines for Life)

Mission
For over twenty years, Lines for Life's YouthLine has helped support young people, prevent youth suicide, and promote mental health. Its purpose is to change the culture around mental well-being by enabling teens to give and get help. The program has three components: YouthLine’s help, support, and crisis line; youth development, mentorship, and workforce development; and classroom education and community outreach.
Bottom Line for Portland
Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, YouthLine is a leader in youth-driven outreach and prevention programs across Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties. Through three locations in the Portland metro area (and two more in other parts of Oregon), including a satellite call center at McDaniel High School in Northeast Portland, YouthLine empowers young people to advocate, educate, reduce stigma, and build community resilience. In 2024, YouthLine volunteers responded to more than 25,000 crisis calls and texts and reached over 65,000 youth through outreach and education.
In early 2025, YouthLine experienced a devastating $1.6 million loss in federal funding, even as the demand for crisis support continues to rise. Your support is more critical than ever. Your gift sustains these life-saving services and helps a new generation of youth volunteers create lasting change in their communities.
