Mother & Child Education Center

Mission

The Mother & Child Education Center provides free support, supplies, education, and resource navigation to anyone expecting or caring for a child aged 0-5. Through judgement-free, culturally compassionate care, we nurture lasting resilience and build a stronger community of confident, capable families.

Bottom Line for Portland

MCEC removes barriers for families by offering essential support, supplies, and education to low-income families. We provide a nurturing environment where parents can receive help accessing other important resources such as WIC and the Oregon Health Plan; focusing on empowering our clients to seek the help they need. Helping families meet these basic needs is a vital piece of bridging health disparities linked to race, ethnicity and income level and ensuring that all children have what they need for a healthy development.

Quote

“Dealing with the worry on how you’re going to afford daily necessities is an exhausting state of mind to constantly be in. Mother and Child helped me not only obtain the diapers and wipes needed, but mentally and emotionally helped me more than they will ever know.” – MCEC Client.
