Mother and Child Education Center

Mission

At Mother & Child Education Center, our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space where all parents and caregivers can access essential resources, education, and compassionate support. We are dedicated to empowering families, particularly those facing economic and social challenges, by offering critical supplies, personalized education, and community connections that foster healthy development for children and stability for families. Together, we strive to build a stronger, more resilient community where every child can thrive.

Bottom Line for Portland

MCEC removes barriers for families by offering essential support, supplies, and education to low-income families. We provide a nurturing environment where parents can receive help accessing other important resources such as WIC and the Oregon Health Plan; focusing on empowering our clients to seek the help they need. Helping families meet these basic needs is a vital piece of bridging health disparities linked to race, ethnicity and income level and ensuring that all children have what they need for a healthy development.

Quote

“It means a lot that you’re excited for me. I haven’t had people encouraging me and it feels really good to have a group of people wanting to support my baby and I.” – MCEC Client

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

MCEC is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels, from our Board to our staff, interns, and volunteers. We are dedicated to providing a judgment-free space where everyone is treated with dignity. By embracing diverse experiences and backgrounds, we create an environment where all voices are heard and valued.
