New Avenues for Youth Inc
The mission of New Avenues for Youth is to work in partnership with our community to prevent youth homelessness and provide young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness with the resources and skills needed to lead healthy, productive lives.
Bottom Line for Portland
New Avenues' directly addresses one of the most pressing issues facing our community: youth homelessness. We provide personalized services & create opportunities for over 1300 young people each year. From meals & counseling to job training & housing, we address the many barriers to stability and well-being that young people face. Each and every day, we show up in compassionate, creative ways, ensuring that they always have a place to turn.
"New Avenues for Youth has been the one stable force in my life. They patiently pointed me in the right direction with life goals, even when the only thing I could think of focusing on was getting through the day.”
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
New Avenues understands that racism, poverty, and experiences of oppression lead to social injustice and housing instability. To advance equity we listen to and learn from young people’s lived experiences, seek multiple perspectives, remain humble, and refuse to simplify or silence hard truths. We make these commitments because we believe in social justice and the inherent human dignity of each individual.
