Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon
Mission
At Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, we believe everyone has the right to be free from hunger. We are the only nonprofit in Oregon focused solely on working alongside those most impacted by hunger to make lasting systemic change.
As administrators of the Oregon Hunger Task Force, we utilize our uniquely direct link to agency representatives and legislators to champion transformative policies and remove barriers to resources.
You can fuel our current statewide initiatives:
• Fighting for free, nourishing school meals for every K-12 student 🍎✏️
• Eliminating immigration status as a barrier to food access 🤝🌎
• Tackling soaring hunger rates on our public college campuses 📚🎓
Bottom Line for Portland
This year, community members like you helped us secure wins like summer meal assistance for almost 350,000 families and free meals for all Portland Public School students.
But hunger remains a devastating daily reality for 1 in 8 Oregonians—and 1 in 6 Oregon children. We’re determined to stop hunger before it begins, starting with making us the 9th state with free school meals for every K-12 student in the 2025 Legislative Session. Each donation moves us closer to an Oregon where hunger is history.
Invest in our community through long-term, systemic change. Together, let’s nourish our future.
Quote
“Last year I was in my high school jazz band. It started an hour before school and I was always in a rush to be in class on time. When I got out of jazz, I grabbed free breakfast because most of the time I hadn’t eaten… The accessibility to free school meals acted as a gentle hand on the back giving reassurance that carried me through my school days. [It] allowed me to focus on learning and growing throughout the school day, instead of hunger and worry… Every student in Oregon deserves that same reassurance. It’s time for School Meals for All.”

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
To truly end hunger, we have to address the oppressive systems that create inequitable access to food in the first place. Hunger in Oregon disproportionately impacts Black, Indigenous, and all People of Color (BIPOC); immigrant and refugee communities; people with disabilities; trans and gender-expansive individuals; and single-parent families. Today, every campaign we launch prioritizes the dismantling of these systems and centers the voices of those who have been impacted by hunger and poverty.
