Mission

Pride Northwest, Inc’s mission is to encourage and celebrate the positive diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans communities, and to assist in the education of all people through the development of activities that showcase the history, accomplishments, and talents of these communities.

Bottom Line for Portland

Pride Northwest is, by design, a non-profit organization with the flexibility to mobilize in response to urgent and emerging community needs. Which is supported by our Community Resilience Program. During the big winter storm of January 2024, we activated a temporary warming shelter for over four dozen (both housed and unhoused) community members for four days. Through our annual 2023-2024 Community Resilience Drive, Pride Northwest also collected and distributed over 3000 resource items, including clothing, hygiene, warming products and food.

Quote

"Pride is both a pillar and a bridge in our community. Pride connects, honors, and shares experiences across class, race, gender, sexuality, and housing divides, improving the world by so doing."

- Sandra Comstock, Executive Director Hygiene4All

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Pride Northwest focuses on supporting the diverse and often overlooked LGBTQIA2S+ community. This commitment is clear both in how the organization is built and in the positive impact it has on the community. In the last year, Pride Northwest dedicated 1,000 community impact hours to help strengthen the community and started two ongoing programs for staff to promote equity and strategic planning.
