The Circus Project
Our mission is to use circus arts as a catalyst for personal and collective transformation.
Bottom Line for Portland
The Circus Project fosters confidence, imagination, and community through the circus arts, including aerial fabric, handstands, juggling, and more. Our programs reach professional artists, members of the general public, and youth facing multiple systemic barriers to arts access. Help us bring the joy and growth inherent in circus training to our community!
“Circus is so much more than physical movement — it’s healing for my heart and soul, it’s learning how to persevere, it’s learning how to feel safe and in charge of my body; it’s learning how to express and create art with my body in a beautifully imperfect fashion.”
— Jenna, long-time student
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
A commitment to equity was central to our founding vision, and that commitment has evolved and grown through the years. We have an active Equity Team, consisting of staff and community members, that meets monthly to set priorities for our equity work and hold the organization accountable. We also maintain a strong scholarship program, and we strive to address the multitude of barriers to circus training that our students face.
