The Library Foundation strengthens our community and creates a brighter future for children by supporting and expanding Multnomah County Library's innovative and groundbreaking work. Our vision of a more open, informed and deeply connected community is made possible by our vibrant library system.

Bottom Line for Portland

Multnomah County Library will reach more than 150,000 children, from birth through high school, with literacy initiatives, books and programs made possible by gifts to The Library Foundation. Your support will enable the library to reach children facing risk factors to academic success in every neighborhood and school district across our community. Librarians will connect with thousands of families, providing parent education about early brain development, and more than 50,000 children’s books available in 30+ languages and cultures.

Our students are struggling with literacy skills, and test scores are not showing the gains we expected. With a $200,000 challenge grant from Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund, we are doubling down on our commitment to children’s literacy and matching donations up to $25,000 received by December 31.
