The Rosewood Initiative

BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

Building a safe, healthy and vibrant community where neighbors can thrive together.

Bottom Line for Portland

East Portland deserves to thrive! At The Rosewood Initiative, we’re dedicated to improving access to essential services—from Trimet fare relief, to fresh culturally relevant food. At our Community Center we foster spaces that nurture health, wellness, and upward mobility for neighbors in East Portland.

We are on track to complete the purchase of our building by the end of this year. 2025 will be an especially exciting year as we dive into the new phase of property design, bringing to life an inclusive, sustainable space that reflects the spirit of our community. Let’s build resilience and opportunity, together!

Highlights of our impact in 2023

5,000 pounds of culturally relevant food to families in need.

48,000 diapers to parents and caregivers.

$17,452 in TriMet fare relief, ensuring community members could access essential services.

Quote

"With the resume that he gave me I ended up applying for a job, and they reached out to me and called me so fast. I was very surprised because they called me very fast and emailed me too and I feel like with my old resume I probably wouldn’t have had that response just because it was so outdated" - Alejandra, Workforce Navigation Participant

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Rosewood Initiative is committed to addressing the inequities caused by municipal disinvestment that are disproportionately experienced by immigrants, refugees, Black, Indigenous and People of Color.

We serve a very diverse community that is strong, resilient, and beautiful. As a community anchor, The Rosewood Initiative fosters community building and serves as a resource hub for East Portlanders most impacted by systemic exclusion.
