The Shadow Project
Mission
The mission of The Shadow Project is to make school more accessible and engaging for K-8 students with learning challenges like dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and trauma.
Bottom Line for Portland
So many students impacted by learning differences or trauma aren’t getting the classroom support they need to keep up with their peers, feel included at school, and be the best student they can be. Our Goal Setting, Reading Mentors, and SuperSensory Space programs provide educators with the tools, resources, and training to transform school into a place where all students can thrive.
Quote
“The Shadow Project made me believe that anything is possible and anything is achievable. Believe in yourself. The only one who knows your value is you.”
—John Fernandez, former Shadow Project student, who is the first in his family to attend college
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Shadow Project removes barriers for students with learning challenges, like dyslexia, ADHD, and autism, by addressing the impacts of racism and ableism. We work to tackle race-based inequities that block students' path to success. By partnering with educators, we ensure students have the tools and support they need, while honoring their diverse backgrounds and fighting systemic barriers in education.
