The Old Church Concert Hall

Mission
TOC preserves the unique beauty of The Old Church’s historic gothic architecture and presents diverse performances and events that reflect and enhance the cultural life of our community. TOC provides a safe, inclusive, and accessible space that welcomes everyone into our discrimination-free zone.
Bottom Line for Portland
We’re Portland’s Sanctuary of Sound, sanctuary of inclusive welcome, sanctuary of historic preservation downtown.
Saved from demolition by the community in 1968, TOC presents a multifaceted mix of musical performances, including rare opportunities to experience groundbreaking national and international artists in an intimate, iconic setting – plus storytelling from The Moth and Tesla City Stories, free weekly classical concerts, community social justice conversations with WE CAN LISTEN, and healing music that soothes you during the new and full moon. Your gift preserves this beautiful wooden concert hall in a downtown quickly becoming steel and glass, helps fund our free community programming and sustains our revitalization efforts as we recover from the lengthy closures due to the pandemic.
Quote
After having attended many concerts at TOC, I can say that the venue is a wonderfully complex assemblage of characteristics. It is both casual and elegant, reverent and welcoming, and the atmosphere sets the stage for each concert being a "special" occasion. The acoustics are stellar, every seat promises a good view, and the experience there is always momentous, yet intimate. TOC is one of my favorite Portland venues.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Both TOC organization and TOC Concert Hall are accessible, welcoming, inclusive, and safe spaces free from discrimination and hatred. In keeping with this commitment, we maintain a strict policy prohibiting harassment in any form (verbal, physical, visual, etc.). Inappropriate conduct which creates an unsafe, intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment is prohibited at TOC. In 2020, TOC and our WE CAN LISTEN program produced Tipping Point, a documentary about the largest civil rights protest in U.S. history, and how Portland emerged as its epicenter.
