Tualatin Food Pantry
Mission
To alleviate food insecurity in our community in a welcoming way that brings dignity and choice to our neighbors.
Bottom Line for Portland
Serving over 1000 households (3500+ people) each month, the Tualatin Food Pantry is essential to ensuring that neighbors in our community do not go hungry. At each visit, clients are able to select their own groceries from a wide selection of fresh produce, shelf-stable dry goods, bread, meat, milk/eggs/margarine and other items traditionally found in your local grocery store's freezer/cooler sections. We operate with only 1.875 FTE staff and a wonderful volunteer team who are all dedicated to serving others.
Quote
"We are serving more people than ever; almost 3500 people each month. This isn't necessarily because we've grown, but because more people need our help. As of August 2024, we are serving 61% more people per month than we were pre-pandemic in 2019. Household sizes are increasing: we are seeing more and more 8 or 9 person households as single families cannot afford their own housing. Most concerning, we have seen a staggering 32% increase in the number of individuals we serve in the last 20 months (since January of 2023), which includes a 14% increase this year alone.” - Danielle Schneider, Executive Director, TFP.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Everyone needs to eat. Period. So we feed everyone who needs it. 100% of our clientele lives below the poverty line. We do not restrict our services based on (or even gather information on) our clients' gender, sexuality, religion, country of origin, or citizenship status. Due to economic disparities among people of color, we serve a much higher percentage of families of color than the local demographic average.
Incentives
We have been selected as a recipient for $2,500 in matching funds from New Seasons!
