Mission

Through the installation of renewable energy systems, Twende Solar aims to eliminate poverty, strengthen economies, protect ecosystems, and ultimately achieve a more equitable society. It takes a village—let's go solar, together!

Bottom Line for Portland

Twende Solar’s energy projects enable non-profits and tribes to reinvest their energy budget on their mission and also bring reliable electricity to people who didn’t have it.  Twende volunteers have installed seven solar systems in Portland, the Northwest and around the world. We envision a world with sustainable energy for all.

Quote

“We are delighted that women and children in recovery at Shepherd’s Door can enjoy the benefits of solar power. This focuses more generous donations from individual donors on direct services and recovery for people who are homeless or hurting,” – Eric Bauer, executive director of Portland Rescue Mission.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At Twende Solar, we take the word, “together,” very seriously; we believe that we’re stronger when we all work and learn together.  Twende Solar exists to partner with communities who have been denied access to power through systems of oppression: be it electric, political or financial. We bring technical solutions to reduce these inequalities and create opportunities. Electric power is a key part of the solution for social change and climate justice. Affordable and abundant electricity helps address multiple issues of inequity simultaneously.

Incentives

On Giving Tuesday, November 29, the Twende Solar board is matching the first $500 in donations. And on two more Big Give Days – December 7 and 15 – we will enter all donors who give $10 or more into a drawing for one of two very cool bags from our Give Guide business partner Tom Bihn. (The first $5 of any donation on those four drawing dates will be considered a raffle ticket purchase for tax purposes. Donors can decline incentives if they would like the full value of the gift transaction to be considered a donation.)

Business Partner(s)
