William Temple House

Mission

William Temple House provides food, counseling, clothing, and household items to Portland-area neighbors to strengthen our community. Our vision is that everyone in our community is fully nourished--emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Bottom Line for Portland

Our city is struggling. 1 in 10 Portlanders are hungry and our state has one of the highest prevalences of mental illness in the nation. It's time for that to change.

William Temple House has been tending to community needs since 1965 and we have an answer. We give immediate support through our social services and provide long-term solutions with our one-of-a-kind low-barrier counseling program, all within the same building. In 2022, we supported over 27,000 of Portland’s most vulnerable individuals with counseling, food, and utility assistance. We also trained 38 graduate interns who will become Oregon’s next generation of counselors.

Portland, there is hope. Every donation to William Temple House helps keep Portlanders out of crisis and nourished—today, tomorrow, and until we’re all supported.
