Clackamas Service Center
Mission
Clackamas Service Center is an inclusive "one-stop" community center for individuals and families seeking food relief and resources for improved health, dignity, and stability.
Bottom Line for Portland
In Clackamas County, Clackamas Service Center is the largest provider of food aid, providing a vital lifeline for neighbors facing hunger and food insecurity. By sharing food with our visitors directly, and by partnering with over a dozen other food aid providers in the region, our impact reaches far beyond our own walls, into local schools, homes, and underserved rural areas like Canby and Estacada.
Each month, over 9,000 people receive food from CSC. In 2025, we're on track to distribute over 1.6 million pounds of food - the equivalent of over 1.3 million meals!
However, our ability to maintain this level of food assistance is currently in jeopardy. Inflation, cuts to SNAP and other federal supports, and a steep rise in the cost of basic needs have pushed more people than ever to seek out our programs — and at the same time, our costs are rising and funding is shrinking. These challenging circumstances, including reduced public and foundation funding and increased operational costs have depleted our reserves and forced us to face the possibility of closing our Food Hub, which would end 75% of our food programs.
CSC's Food Hub is our 8,000 square foot warehouse, where all our food donations are stored before being redistributed. No other food distribution resource this scale exists in Clackamas, meaning that many of the amazing food donations we receive would be composted or sent to landfill if it were not for the Food Hub.
Your donations to our Give!Guide campaign this year will be added to our Save the Food Hub campaign, which will support our food operations in 2026, ensuring we can keep this vital resource open, continue sharing food with thousands, and keep providing a safety net option for our neighbors when cupboards are bare.
If we reach our Give!Guide goal, your contributions will fund over 50,000 lbs of food support!
Quote
“It means so much to have a resource like CSC, you’re fantastic. You’ve done right by so many people.” - Cheryl, food pantry user and caretaker for rental assistance recipient
“CSC provides the ability to access produce that our pantry just doesn't have the capacity to store. If we get a large donation from a partner grocery store that we can't store because it is perishable, CSC has the ability to take that product on. Nothing goes to waste. If Clackamas Service Center's warehouse closed, it would devastate our pantry.” - Lindsay Schoenecker, Community Services Assistant Manager, Esther’s Pantry, located inside Providence Milwaukie Hospital, serving 2,500 people monthly
“I would not be where I am without the Clackamas Service Center. I think they should have one in every zip code!” - Guy, formerly houseless CSC visitor
